Dr. Mildred Scheel, then first Lady of West Germany, founded the Deutsche Krebshilfe (German Cancer Aid) on 24th September 1974. Scheel was admired by many for her philanthropic activism and was nominated as Germany’s “Woman of the Year” in 1977, 1978 and 1979. In 1980, Warhol, Scheel’s longtime friend, immortalized her in this beautiful screenprint to raise funds for the Deutsche Krebshilfe.

This artwork is signed and numbered 558/1000 in pencil, with the artist's copyright stamp on the reverse.
