The exhibition focusses on a group of works executed between 2016 and 2019 that are firmly tied to ideas of the body, its absence, and the material elements of sexuality. In these works, known as Rope Paintings, Tiley evokes the body without relying on figuration or narrative while referencing particular modernist touchstones like abstract expressionism, minimalism and geometric abstraction. By using knots and binding methods of Shibari, a form of erotic bondage with origins in 18th- and 19th-century Japan, Vincent Tiley forcibly ties these works to notions of exquisite control and performed eroticism.

Eduardo Chillida | On Paper

Online on Artsy

June 25th - September 10th

As a well-known master of post-war sculpture, Chillida's work on paper as a draftsman and printmaker still remains an underappreciated field of interest. This exhibition will bring together more than 20 rarely seen works by the Spanish master. The show will present Chillida as a radical inventor that used paper to reformulate collage, to explore the figurative expression of his work, to expand the possibilities of monumental etchings and the intimate scale of woodcuts, as well as to create unique tridimensional structures made of this fragile material, his Gravitations.
